Greenacre Recruitment are working in partnership with a social housing provider in the Berkshire area to source an Interim Project Surveyor on an interim basis for 3-6 months initially.

What is the role?

Be responsible for the implementation of the delivery and professional building surveying services for the planned and major works programmes. This includes but is not exclusive to, kitchen / bathroom replacement, window and door replacement, programmes roofing and refurbishment projects.

Work collaboratively with colleagues in the planned works team and across the organisation. Undertaking resident involvement and managing queries from our customers both as part of planned programmes of work and day to day queries.

Undertake a variety of surveys to report, analyse and make recommendations to rectify a range of building defect issues. Complete these tasks in compliance with health and safety regulatory legislation.

What you will be doing here? (Some of…)

  • You will undertake surveys of housing stock, prepare schedules of condition, schedules of work, tender documentation, defect analysis reports as required and ensure that specifications are kept up to date.
  • You will prepare pre-tender estimates and feasibilities for a wide range of residential property refurbishment projects including the delivery of the planned and major works programme.
  • You will assist in the design, procurement and management of contracts and contractors in delivering the planned investment and major works programme, ensuring that good progress is maintained on site. Attend site meetings as required and ensure works are completed in accordance with contract documentation.
  • We are medium sized business that needs colleagues at all levels of the business to work collaboratively, your working relationship and understanding of how issues play out in different departments is essential to be successful in this role. What happens in Planned Assets impacts on Housing Management and Repairs and the Lettings team, you must appreciate this and at all times be prepared to communicate what and how you are managing your day to day workload.
  • You will review payment applications to ensure they are in line with works completed to date.
  • You will have knowledge of the Party Wall etc Act 1996 when dealing with the requirements of the Act.
  • You will undertake customer consultation and stakeholders as required, ensuring that excellent customer satisfaction is provided at all time and can be evidenced through feedback and key performance indicators.

Skills & Experience

  • Have experience of managing construction programmes and leading on projects to successful completion.
  • Knowledge and experience of undertaking defects analysis.
  • Up to date knowledge of technical issues concerning construction and maintenance of housing and demonstrable experience of where they have gained this experience and applied it.
  • Ability to and experience of undertaking building inspections, identifying repairs and maintenance issues and are able to write clear and concise reports with appropriate recommendations.
  • The ability to use a wide range of IT programmes.
  • Understanding of current best practice in property maintenance and the law relating to housing property.
  • Willing to embrace change.

Qualifications & Other Requirements

  • Completion of a recognised course in property construction/maintenance/ refurbishment, HNC in Building, RICS / CIOB or equivalent.
  • Driving license with own transport.
