With the Great Jobs Migration continuing at a pace, organisations across the globe are struggling to attract, retain and develop their talent. This is due, in part, to a seismic shift in the way people think about their worklife and the part it plays in the greater scheme of things. In essence, we are experiencing a global employment existential crisis.
Now, more than ever, people want to feel a sense of purpose and for their work patterns to reflect their changing needs and the cross over between daily work and personal lives. There is a greater appetite for diversity, inclusion and opportunities to follow individual passions within our workspaces. For this to be successful there should be an emphasis on strengths, trust and belonging. Succession Planning has never been more important.
Building a fit for purpose leadership development strategy has become an essential tool in attracting and retaining our workforce, as well as reshaping what leadership looks like, in order to navigate and adapt to the new workplace transformations taking place.
Building the leadership experience
Following on from the success of our Flagship CIH Accredited Leading for Tomorrow Programme, our new Learning to Lead programme is now open for applications. The new programme is for newly appointed leaders, or those about to step into their first leadership role, and we are excited to receive our first participants!
Just like Leading for Tomorrow, the Learning to Lead programme provides an experiential rather than a standard ‘training’ approach, underpinned by a coaching methodology in which participants will practice and develop together. We share insights and case studies gained through our research and the latest leadership thinking from across different sectors to bring in new and creative ideas.
In order to build a healthy succession plan, organisations should provide an attractive prospect for candidate attraction in terms of visible career development pathways, but also purposeful opportunities whereby existing employees can envision their future selves growing within your company. When people feel valued and nurtured, their individual strengths and purpose are recognised. Employees are less likely to leave and more likely to be motivated to strive for collective success and to support others along the way.
